There was a house facing the gated community, with its back to the woods, and our first move was to rotate it. A light stone facade replaced the original dark wood, large windows where there was once timidity, and an exterior floor in white stone that extends to an organically shaped pool: all this so that the house would stop looking at the neighbors and start looking at the forest, on a plot of land that allows for this rare privacy.

The result changes with the seasons, without ever losing its thread. In the summer, light and ventilation flow freely through the house. In the winter, a large fireplace and the stone and wood walls themselves retain the heat. Even the bathrooms have large windows, as if no room could be left out of the view of the woods. It is this shift, from a house that protected itself from its surroundings to a house that lives off of it, that transforms the experience of being there, in all seasons.
