At Arthaus, reclaimed wood runs through every room, giving unity to an apartment designed to house an art collection that spans centuries and styles. In the entrance hall, a black door with visible pores leads to a dark space where a classical sculpture, once in the garden of the previous house, takes center stage under the light. In the living room, a grand piano, a Baroque work by Aleijadinho, and the Papa Bear armchair share the same space without competing: the neutral base, in white lacquered wood with discreet boiseries, exists so the pieces speak first.
In the dining room, a solid oak table, once a sewing counter, carries the weight of history alongside a lighter, more recent Calacatta marble counter. On the balcony, a silver travertine table designed by Two shares space with a coffee table carved from a single log. In the bedrooms, warm gray tones and green leather mark the private wing, and the powder room, clad in Nero Marquina marble with a brass-framed mirror, closes the apartment like a small gallery of its own.

Based on our client's wishes - it was clear throughout the entire process we will use only organic materials.
The bright clean walls in contrast to the light wood, plants and art make this place feel like “home”, not just a house.
